Animals & Insects Don't Do Drugs

Good god, I feel like crap. I think I am officially done with roller coasters for life! Yesterday after me, Jen, Rose, and Jorden hit up Wonderland, I just wanted to die. I tried watching Alexander before I went to bed that night, but I only got about 20 minutes in before I just felt this wave of assness pass over me (although, that might have been the movie because I have personally taken shits that were better directed than Alexander). Today I woke up still feeling a little sick and I just can't understand why. Iron-belly Alleyne, they used to call me. Now even the thought of the Tea Cups makes me want to barf.

Hopefully I can redeem myself with the free tickets we got because of the bad weather. I just hope they're redeemable 15 years from now.

So other than that, the weekend was good. Spent most of it chilling with Jonnie LeJonJon. We played poker at Jon Yeo's house where I managed to kick-ass twice in a row. Things I learned: 1) Natalie can't tell a four from a six and 2) unless you have a good hand, always fold to Jon because there really is no telling what he has. Saturday, we bought roti (yum!) and watched Meet the Fockers...that's pretty much the best thing I can say for that movie. No joke.

Anyways, the flicker of this monitor is making me feel sick again so I'm just going to end it here. Time to welcome those Depends® years, I guess, and accept that I am no longer a human being.

The Man Who Stole a Dragon's Heart

Ok, I figure it's about time to resurrect my journal now. You guessed it: I'm done school... and already bored. Heh heh. So what I'm going to do is try to bring this journal up to speed with the last four months of my life, just for shits and giggles and so next term I can look back and say "fuck, and I thought I had it bad then".

So where do I begin? Well I kinda let my laziness screw me towards the beginning of the term. For the first three weeks, I bascially spent most of my time trying to finish the work report I probably should have finished while I was still working. Go figure. But anyway, it all worked out in the end: my boss gave me an Outstanding on my performance evaluation and the school gave me an Outstanding on the work report. It was even considered for an award again but as usual, I lost to some hairy albino kid (I assume). The report's here, by the way, for anyone that needs an effective sleep aid.

So with that report out of the way, school itself wasn't that bad. In another one of thos rare little events, I actually liked going to my CS classes. I mean how can you not when you have an Algorithms prof. that's like a Chinese version of Professor Frink?? I think I actually heard him say 'Gleiben' once or twice. Plus, he was sooo into the course. Some things I remember him saying are "Whee! Aren't algorithms fun!" and "Ok, let's all pretend to be computers for a moment" followed by beeping sounds. Awesome! Now if he had just done the robot afterwards....

But now, what would Waterloo be without a little rapage? ie, midterms. Diversity of Life and Organic Chemistry were boring as shit and made me just want to tear a kitten in half, but at least they were bird courses. *releases stray baby* Operating Systems and Algorithms, on the other hand... let's just say that 52% of the class failed the OS midterm (myself included) and the Algorithms midterm average was 60%. Yeah... Fortunately, about two weeks afterwards, co-op came through for me with a job and I decided not to burn down the school. So now $3000 later, I have my second paying job as a Java Developper for this company, hopefully making $20/hour! w00t! I almost didn't get the job, too, even after being interviewed for an hour and a half in what was supposed to be a half an hour interview. At first my boss was concerned by my lack of Java experience, but you'd be surprised how faking an interest in something can actually get you a job. Anyways, it feels good not having to waste two weeks looking for a job on my own. :)

So the end of the term was basically just weeks of assignmnts followed by *scary music* exams. Can I just say that my exam schedule was off the izzle dizzle a bizzle for shizzle chizzle this term? Everything was spaced out, I had all the easy confidence-boosting courses during the first couple weeks, and every exam itself was fair (you honestly never know with Waterloo). So hopefully I kicked ass towards the end there. I was tempted to not give a shit about OS since it was on the last day, but having failed the midterm and wanting to never ever ever repeat that course sorta motivated me. After OS, me, Mike (housemate), and Tom (fellow OS survivor) hit up McGuiness for a pitcher (I almost forgot what the sweet taste of beer was like!) and I packed up my shit and got the hell out of that town as fast as was humanly possible: our place kinda went to hell while we were studying for exams and what not. You honestly couldn't walk five feet without hearing the crunch of a squished bug.

So in retrospect, 3B was an alright term, but it was just a bit lacking in the fun-times department. But then that's what the summer is for, eh? eh?? So now who's up for a trip to St. Lucia or the Bahamas?

I hear St. Lucia just got rid of some of the disease.

The Way of the Future. The Way of the Future. The Way of the Future.

My brain is going crazy from all this writing, so I thought I'd take my mind off it by writing in my journal. The educational value doesn't really make it writing at all.

Anyway, the work report is still going strong. I'm about three paragraphs away from freedom, but only one paragraph away from complete metldown; it's a fun little balance! I'm pleased with the way its coming out, but a little unhappy that I had to cut out about 2000 words. When I'm finished writing it though, that uhapiness should turn into an orgasm of stroke-causing proportions so it's no big deal.

In the other 10% of my life this isn't devoted to this report, I actually had some fun this weekend. 'To & Dinu had another one of their drunken alcohol parties. I was ♫sooo♫ smashed! I don't know what Sangria is, but a bottle-full sure is tasty. For most of the night, I was talking to Alyssa and Joel at the top of my lungs. I think it's funny how I've never laughed so hard during a conversation and yet have no idea what was said. Oh. Man.

Last night, I went to see the aviator with Leo DiCap. All I can say is that's three hours of my life that I will never get back. And I'm serious: the movie is exactly three hours long, filled with quality shots of Leonardo DiCaprio's ass and dozens of jars of urine. Where is the suicide button when you need it?? I did realize something funny after watching The Aviator, though. Does anyone remember that episode of the Simpsons when Burns buys the casino and basically becomes a scary recluse? And he pulls a gun on Smither's to make him ride "the Spruce Goose"? Well, they took that from the life of Howard Hughes and I had no idea! I think I'll laugh 6000 times as hard when I see that scene from now on just because of the irony.

Anyway, I need to finish this bloody work report. Did anyone, by the way, see Joey this week with Data from Star Trek? I have never come so close to peeing myself from laughter in my life. 'Twas fantastic.

Updatage

I've got class in about 10 mintues, so I'm just gonna drop a quick update today.

So this school term is definitely not off to a good start so far. Despite my 4.5 course load and decades of free time, I've spent most of it trying to finish off my work report. It's been such a pain. My report is basically comparing three different pattern-finding programs, but I was having a hard-ass time comparing them because they spit out different formats. And then when I finally found a way to compare them, it looked like the results were absolute shit. This was all after about a week of work and even after I consulted one of my profs from last term (I was that screwed!)

All I can say is thank god for this past weekend. I went out with a couple people to take my mind off the report, like Joel who's finally back from Austria and had some very sexy stories. Then when I came back to my report, I was finally able to get the programs to output some decent results. Now I think I have some stuff that my boss will really be able to use and will probably thank me for. Plus, I found out Math gives you an extra day to hand in your report.

So I'm basically set!

Anyway, so the rest of this week will basically be finishing this thing off and then hopefully I can start enjoying my supposedly easy term. I'll let you know how it goes.

--T

New Years Eve 2004

Happy New Years Eve everyone. Just thought I'd holla at my journal for the last time of 2004. I should probably make this entry provacative and insighful,

What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?

Way too much to write..

Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

Yeah, I kept it. It was just to work out on a regular basis. As for next year, I'll prolly go for something less self-centred... or... just keep the same one from last year.

Did anyone close to you give birth?

Yes! Jeanine had little Tejha Alouishious Louise-Jenkens Paine

Did anyone close to you die?

No

What countries did you visit?

The U.S. (Maryland, D.C. Area)

What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?

More time, money, a digital camera, and a robotic body

What dates from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

March 7th, May 29th, Sept 14th

What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Well one of them was finding a paying job..

What was your biggest failure?

I don't think I was adventurous enough this year.

Did you suffer illness or injury?

Only imagined.

What was the best thing you bought?

My snowboard!!!!!111one

Whose behavior merited celebration?

Lisiii, Steph, and Matt. They were very cool this year.

Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Ilya, Shivang, Natalie--three people I will never live with again.

Where did most of your money go?

School :( Hookers?

What did you get really, really, really excited about?

The trip to Trinidad that didn't happen, the trip to Florida that I didn't get to go on, seeing Matt Good and K-OS

What song will always remind you of 2004?

Outkast - Hey Ya

Compared to this time last year, are you:

older? Well technically, yes. Mentally/Emotionally, I would definitely have to say yes as well.

happier or sadder? Happier. 2004 was a great year!

thinner or fatter? Um, the same?

richer or poorer? Poor for the first half, rich for the second.

What do you wish you'd done more of?

Travelled first of all, spent more time with friends and family..

What do you wish you'd done less of?

Sitting on my ass, stressing..

How will you be spending Christmas?

I already spent it ;) It was with family and it was great.

Did you fall in love in 2004?

Yes, I fell in love in 2004..

How many one-night stands?

Not-a-one

Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

I don't hate anyone.

What was the best book you read?

That would have to the Bourne Identity, but to be fair I only read three.

What did you want and get?

A snowboard, clothes, money, good marks, a job...(and it goes on like this!)

What did you want and not get?

A camera, a PS 2, the trips above..

What was your favorite film of this year?

It was Spider-Man 2, without a doubt.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I threw a house party in Waterloo and you were there, and you, and you.... I turned 21.

What things would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Besides some of the stuff I said above, nothing really. It was a sexy year!

What kept you sane?

My Grados + iRiver, Friends, and Family.

Who did you miss?

My Dad, my older sister, Joely--lots of people..

Who was the best new person you met?

Jon, but we knew each other from before

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004

Life is full of surprises and just when you give up on a dream, that's when it'll probably come true.

So that's that! I just wanted to post my timetable for next term so you can follow along with me on my oddessy of horror and remind everyone to have a fun and safe new year.

See you in 2005.

I never thought it would end this way. Gunned down by Santa Claus.

When I said this week was going to be laid-back, I think I meant to say it was going to be a painful beating to the end. Which it was. Basically the last thing I needed to do was to upload some new sequences to the database, but it took me longer than I thought since a) my code didn't excatly work and b) the sequence files looked like they were put together by a 5-year-old monkey. Needless to say, I didn't get to finish everything I wanted, but what can you do? By the way if anyone's interested, the database is at http://theileria.ccb.sickkids.ca/elastin/ (it isn't a hyperlink on purpose); check it out if you like latin and DNA.

My boss also gave me an Outstanding on my performance evaluation. Boo. Yah. I don't know if it was deserved, but I'll take it! Now all I've got to do is pull a work report out of my ass. It kind of sucks because those things stress me out so much and I have to work on it over Christmas break, but on the otherhand, once its done I never have to write another one again. Ever.

So it's all good.

Anyways, today is officially the best day of the year and so I just wanted to wish all of you a Happy Holiday. Even Lisa.

Merry Christmas everyone and thanks for being a part of my life.

The Wait is Over

Ok ok, I'm updating! *Dodges bricks* *Places guts back in body* Read up, bitches.

Well since my last update a thousand years ago, basically working's been where it's at. Not really exciting news, but all the good stuff's already been vomitted onto the internet. Right now my feeling is I don't mind work, but it could be better. Becuase although I like the work I'm doing and the pay is great, that hour and a half long commute really does make me want to drive my legs through my skull. Thankfully I've only get a week left before Chrismachanukwanzakah break. Isn't it funny though how you say you will be glad to be rid of a place forever, but then when you think about it, you know you're going to miss being there? (If you don't, pretend you do.) The Robot, Foreign Guy, maybe even the Danish and the Boss sure did get on my nerves at times, but I'm still going to miss them.

So for the past week, I've been working on a presentation I was supposed to give to our group and another lab group of about ten people on the work I've been doing the entire work term. Well, I gave the presentation yesterday and I must say, it kicked scientific-research ass! Never underestimate the power of a well-deliviered presentation to gloss over the fact that you did very little work, kids. So how do I know my presentation was good?

Well, the Boss and Shoshana Wodak (the other lab group) told me so.

In every lab meeting we've had, at least one person falls asleep. No one fell asleep during mine

I thought my presentation would be 30 mins. long at the most, but with all the discussion and questions people had, it went to over an hour

Superman

The Foreign Guy, who is so fidgety and forever sighing in these meetings payed attention the entire way through

I rule all

Still, the important thing is not that my presentation went well, but that I outshined the Robot. Yeah, I'm petty. Also, the Boss is dying to have me back in the summer, but we'll have to see how that goes.

Afterwards, I went and had lunch with Shuang and Atina from my old lab and Shuang hooked me up with a Chrismachanukwanzakah gift. She got me a set of nice alcohol glasses, a necessity for any college student. That was very cool of her.

After work (at 3:00, that is), we went to Victory to pre-drink before the Genetics and Genomic Biology Christmas party. Ladies and Gentlemen, I have a new favourite beer: Labbatt Blue. I had three of those things and I was good. Anyways, the party turned out to be really cool times since I knew a few people there and the gift exchange had a sickening amount of science-nerd humour. For example, Steve Scherer's group (who study chromosome 7) gave him a modified version of Monopoly called Chromosome 7 Monoploidy. *groan*

So all in all, it was a good week. I'm looking forward to next week when I can do dick-all and still get paid for it.

Oh. Yeah.

P.S.

My sister was up from Marlyand for a week

I saw and liked Ocean's 12

I was horribly embarrased when I went by jdizz's work only to find out that she hadn't been at that store for three years

I finally got a dirty little basement in Waterloo to call my home

but no one cares about that stuff...

Knockin' Heads Off

Best. Halloween. Ever. Or at least in recent memory. Highlights include carving a pretty sick pumpkin for the department Halloween party using pumpkin guts and dry ice and going as Lil Jon to To and Dinu's Halloween party in good ol' Waterloo. I think it's roughly been 3000 years since I last costumed or carved, but I could be wrong. Maybe that's why my pumpkin didn't win the pizza party prize like I wanted. Instead they gave that sweet plum to some pumpkin that some guy carved. Where was the dry ice I ask you?? Where! Losing did make me a little bloodlusty for a while, but lucky for that guy, the Waterlo party was pretty happeninnnn. So I won't have to find him and eat his earlobes. Which is good.

Now I'm not one to brag, but I had the sexiest, if not the craziest, if not the crunkest costume ever known to man. Some others might have been equal in insanity and sexiness, but definitely not in crunk.

Alyssa, in her second costume, shouting to me my Mom's hot.

Mel and I keeping it crunk.

I'm Rick James bitch!!!

Aw, who farted in Ephraim's face!?

Alyssa's skanking it up as usual. I don't even wanna know who's hand that is.

Play-Devil Slayer or Slayboy devil?

Mike and Crew do Alice. Wait a minute, that doesn't sound right...

We had the whole Dave Chapelle crew!

Dinu, you are my hero.

By the way, for the Hip Hoptually challenged, I went as Lil Jon of OKAY, YEAH, HHH-WHAT fame (pictured top-wise). I definitely got to give Dinu all my respect for his Prince costume though. I laughed my ass off when I saw it! The only way to top that costume would be to have a dry ice machine in his platform shoes. And only the real Prince has that!

Anyway, definitely good times... good drunken times. And looks like there's more to come: my Mom is on a cruise right now, K-os is coming up on Wednesday, the O.C. returns to fulfill my rabid lust for rich white people and their problems, and I get paid!

I think I might wet myself....

Somebody Pimp My LJ

Amanda McGuilicutty Walsh.

Here I am settled in for my daily hour of TV and what do I see when I flip to Space? None other than Amanda from MUCH on Smallville. Sweet sin, what happened to the universe? I stop watching the show for six months and this is what happens. I can't hate on her acting but I think after seeing that I won't be able to watch the show for another six months...

Ok, maybe like a week.

Anyway, this weekend: don't go to Red Lobster if you're anything but Asian. I went there with the family on Friday for my bother's b-day (sorry Lisiii, but I'll make it up to you!) and when we get to our table, the seater-greeter is like sorry folks, we ran out jerk chicken tonight. Um, hey buddy, nazi Germany is thaddaway. Thanks. Really, the entire experience was good times though. I love getting together with family because we always destroy people behind their backs. Like our server, Jop Chen (or so we called him...) or this one chick who HAD to be a prostitute. She had this blonde weave in her hair and this sweater/dress thing that barely covered her ass and god if I could do the whole C.F.M. strut for you over LJ, I would. Everytime she'd walk by, we would sing &#x266B Lady of the Night &#x266B. lol. Good times.

And apparently, don't go to Screemers unless you want to get your ass kicked by ugly, pregnant 15 year old girls. Here we are standing in a long line for one of the haunted houses and this rat-faced midget chick (we'll call her Chunk) is like can you guys fucking hurry up or something. So Jon tells Chunk to chill out and all of a sudden (and this was so funny/ghetto) she grabs his arm and is like 'do you know who I am? You don't want to mess with me. Oh shit, you don't want to mess with me' or something, meanwhile being surrounded by four guys twice her size. The funny thing is Chunk was ready to fight right there until I stepped between the two of them. Gotta admit though, I would have loved to have seen that beatdown. Damn.

Sunday, I hit up H20-loo with Mike to find a house for next term. We saw a pretty interesting range of houses from ghettofabulous (this funky-ass basement) to great (a brand new student appartment) so all that remains now is to make some kind of decision. I also got my bindings on Sunday (well, the missing disks, screws, and leash anyway) so Number One is good to go! They're sexy Burton Missions too, making me think I should probably change my board name to Pimpmaster 3000: the year to fear. Or something.

But we'll see. My boss came back from Atl. yesterday, so my fancy ride in a free car comes to a halt. Boo. Hiss. What's funny is I finished all the work that I was supposed to have done last week in a day (thanks, brain) and somehow doing work actually made the day go quicker.

Who would've thought working was the key?

Anyway, this week's goal is to: obtain (1) Astros jersey/Padres jersey/velour suit and (1) pimp cup. Hookups are always appreciated.

Next thing you know, you're demon infested

Well, Tuesday I was in a shittacular mood, in case that wasn't obvious. But like all things, I think it can be traced to a lack of sex and... aliens. Maybe even a lack of sex with aliens, now that I think about it... In either case, I've come to the conclusion that Tuesday must have been Shit on The Working Guy Day or something since for most, I think it was pretty much a shitty day.

For my part though I'm pretty much over it now. I've decided that maybe I'm a bit too worked up over this 'working' thing and getting a 'good evaluation' thing. Wasn't the whole point of co-op to experience new experiences? And aren't I in this program for shits as well as bling? Probably!

So I guess what I'm going to try to do is focus a bit more on the enjoying what I'm doing-part than necessarily the doing-part... if that makes sense. It is going to be a little difficult though considering my boss is in Atlanta till Monday and he only left me with busy-work, two robots, and a foreign guy. But I guess I will to make do!

Hey, so is anyone else looking forward to Survivor and Joey tonight? Don't tell me I'm the only loser that watches these shows. I'm really hoping that Scout wins this one; I love that whole cool-grandma-hippy thing she's got going on. True it would have been nice to see a black guy win for once, but I can't stand Rory and his bastardly ways.

Let's hope the Vanuatu roast his testicles on a spit.

Anyways, I feel some eyes rolling out of their skulls now so I'm going to get back to procrastinating. Maybe even some online gambling and murder too, if there's time.

Till next time.

Christmas Comes Early

Like Fred Durst making love to Halle Berry, I know this is a little premature but do you people realize that Christmas is only 3 months away?? So just to make sure everyone has time to get my Christmas shopping done early, here's a list of my current bare necessities:

10 Burton snowboards ($700.00 ea.)

16 Cannon EOS digital cams. ($1599.99 ea.)

19 TFT monitors ($599 ea.)

If you're strapped for cash this year, I suppose some of those quantities could be substitued with just 1. Now get shopping!

"Would you like me to bring out the tit?"

I'm sitting here at work and I'm bored out of my mind.... is there any better way to procrastinate and look busy at the same time than LJ? I don't think so.

So, work so far is pretty dull. I haven't done much but read all week. I think my greatest accomplishment so far has been installing MSN on my computer. I'm actually not kidding because they have me using the shittiest Linux system ever, RedHat, and anytime I try to install anything, it crashes the computer. Ghettoness...

Anyway, my co-workers are cool enough so far. They're not being unfriendly jerks like last time. Speaking of which, I went to go visit my old lab the other day and it was actually a pleasure to talk to Atina. Julie? Ehhh, not so much... But getting back to my coworkers... there isn't really anything interesting to say about them except that I think one of them might be a robot--this guy seems to have absolutely no personality or sense of humour whatsoever. It's kind of freaky, but I guess that's what happens when you work in computers for too long. *starts doing the robot*

My desk is actually in a pretty bad location this term. It's right in front of my boss, but I guess it's not so bad since it makes sleeping quite convenient. Heh heh. As for my boss, he's pretty cool as well. He has a british accent, so it's always entertaining hearing him talk and laughing about it in my head. 'That's a little dodgey, isn't it?'. Tomorrow he's apparently heading off to some retreat in Barry with two of my coworkers to get drunk and play Faculty Feud. They were deciding today on what type of whiskey to bring up with them. Doctors... I think I'll spend most of tomorrow asleep at my desk; that'll be nice.

Alright, you're probably more bored reading this post than I was when I started it, so I think I'll end it here. Bugger off, old chap.

Drop Down & Get Your Rose On

Well well, first of all I must say holy kick ass time this weekend! For those that don't know, I went up to Ton's cottage for one evening/morning and drank myself sillllay. I don't believe I've laughed that much since the time we all went to Montreal. Burping contests/champale/drunken dancing/crazy bonfires/logdrivers getting married on logs RULE! But then freezing my ass off/nosebleeds/not showering suck.

Sorry you couldn't be there, Li'l D. Honestly, there were so many times when it felt like there was someone missing. Next time you're coming out even if you have to quit your job, I don't care! Got it? Got it?? Good!

So after all that shiznit, I ended up watching Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. I don't know, the movie might not be for everyone but I thought it was pretty damn cool! I really liked the whole vintage 1940's style and how the story kept moving. Oh and the effects didn't hurt either. I guess my only complaint would be Angelina Jolie's acting/accent, but you can't really complain about a movie with giant robots in it. You just can't.

Tomorrow I start working again and I can't freakin' wait either. I've been feeling the urge lately to do 'something' productive with my life other than just eating and sleeping and occasionally showering. Who knows, working and making money might just be that thing...

She starts every conversation with 'I'm bored'. Gaaarrffrrrrdrrr#%^$!!! I hate when people do that!! And then bitches about things like how this guy she keeps leading on won't stop calling her.
Welcome Back

Well look who's got a job. I know a lot of you (mainly Steph and Lisa) were tying to keep me down, but as of September 20th, I will be working in Dr. John Parkinson's lab at the Hospital for Sick Children. Kick ass.

The job itself is completely programming but my old boss says I can moonlight in her lab sometimes since she's only a few floors up. I'm supposed to be making a database of the different elastin (the protein that makes your skin, heart, and lungs stretchy and stops them from, um, dying) sequences from humans, cats, dogs etc. and adding in a web interface and all these nifty tools to compare them. I think I'll be learning like three different programming languages or something + Linux, which is cool with me! I always thought my resume needed some sexifying anyway.

Aight, that's the good news. Play my Tetris game and visit me downtown!

Holy shit! I just checked my unofficial marks for last term and I got a 71% in Algorithms! YEEAAHH! Take that, bitches! Haha. Ok, sorry about that; I'm just so happy that I didn't fail! Looks like I'm invincible after all.... bitches.

So I'm back on the northSIDE and it feels good to be home. The States were great and everything, but I was starting to get homesick the last couple of days (not to mention, very very po'). Case in point, we were supposed to go to the beach on Friday, but I really wasn't feeling up to it. I just wanted to pack up and leave. I was also kind of tired since the night before we watched the late show of the Manchurian Candidate with Jonathan. If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend you watch it. It's by the same director as Silence of the Lambs, so if you like freaky psychological shit, go watch it.

I haven't really done that much since I've been back. Strangely enough, I've been to two family BBQs in the past two days--neither of them my own family. Saturday was the Cross family BBQ. Everyone was really friendly. Today, I just got back from the Yeung family BBQ. Everyone was very friendly, considering they'd gone through about ten bottles of wine. I had some wine and chatted it up with the British (most of the people there were from England). It was a pretty chill time and I'm glad I didn't poon out (as Alyssa says I'm famous for) at the last minute.

So that's pretty much it. I'm going to go out for coffee tonight most likely. Sorry I couldn't make it out to Jeanine's B-Day/clubbing but I didn't get home from the airport till 2:30 AM Friday and I committed to that BBQ on Saturday.

As promised, here are some drunken pics.

Mike got quite fucked.

Sandy and Randy also got pretty smashed.

We made all the white people stand by the dooor...

...for obvious reasons.

Jon and Nat were all over each other.

Ginny has a tendency to grope people before she meets them.

That's not a girls face.

Did I mention that Waterloo was 300% Chinese?

And that's it!

Pocket Rockets

Maryland has rekindled my love-affair with Poker.

Or at least Texas Hold 'Em. I was playing it the other day with my sister's co-worker, Joanie, and her son, Jonathan, and I watched about an hour of Celebrity Poker today. I really forgot how much skill is involved in that game! But it's funny. Joanie had never really played before, but like everyone else once she got the hands down, she was actually thinking like a pro. I think that's probably why Poker is such a popular card game; I really should start playing it again...oh, and watching more TV shows that pit Matthew Perry against Hobbits. Those are always great.

Other than Poker though, Maryland has also got me hooked on crabcakes! Has anyone tried these things? They're freakin' delicious and you can get them on just about every corner in downtown Annapolis but for some reason, not in Canada. I've got to find a way to smuggle some back across the border...maybe in my anus or something.

I also went to Six Flags America the other day and rode on Superman: Ride of Steel, the quote-unquote fastest rollercoaster in the world. I was shitting my pants quite heavily on that one.... twice, because I went two times. Heh heh. I honestly don't think I can go back to non-threatening rollercoasters or even a normal resting heartrate after that ride; they're just too tame by comparison. I'll have to try to smuggle that one back too... unfortunately, I was cursed with only one anus.

But I digress. I finally went into Baltimore today. It was seemingly the point of this entire trip and yet I only spent a few hours in it on my third-last day. Baltimore is actually a pretty nice city, or at least the parts that I saw. I was really expecting it to be all ghetto and run-down, but everything looks new and shiny! Well, except for the hobos.... there were kind of a lot of those, but still not as much as Toronto and I believe they were about as new and shiny as hobos could be. Very impressive.

This state has reminded me of something though, if I can get a little personal for a second. One of the things that really bothers me is when people say that I'm not really black, or that I'm white-washed or whatever just because I don't act like I'm from New York or the Ghetto. But when I come here and see the black people that really are living in the ghetto, it just reminds me that most of those people haven't seen what it really means to be gangsta or ghetto and that I should be happy that I don't have to live like that. Not to be a snob at all. He said whitely....

Anyway, that's all I have to say about that. I'm not really sure what I'm doing tomorrow, but I should get to bed just in case.

Peace out y'all. Ya na'mean?

In Americo

Holy shit, look who's done school!

The term of hell is officially over, and I could not be freakin' happier. It still hasn't really hit me yet--I think the other day I used the word protein in a sentence--but I'm slowly working my way back down to only three letter words. :D

So guess where I am right now? In a half-million dollar beach home on the Chesapeake Bay. Yeah, I know: wtf? Well, let's start with my last week of school. That Bioinformatics exam that I got deferred to Friday ended up being the most pleasurable, erotic (ok, maybe not erotic..) exam I've ever written. It was damn easy! Which is a good thing, considering the whole week I was quite beyond the point of caring enough to study seriously...... oh, and I got a lot of the answers off my friends. -_-; Anyways, after that unpleasantness, we partied it down for the last time at 87 Columbia St. West. I didn't get as drunk as I thought I would, but boy was Mike smashed! I have never seen him that drunk before; it was pretty hilarious. I think we were up until past three that night and people even woke up at six to play drunken Boggle. It was awesome times.

So the next day, I pretty much packed up the rest of my stuff and hopped on a plane to Maryland. I know it's a far cry from Trinidad, but those plans didn't exactly work out, as many know. So far, it's been a pretty kick-ass time. The first day here, we went down to the capital and saw the White House, the Senate, the Washington Monument, shit like that. Today we went down to downtown Annapolis (the capital of Maryland) to shop/sightsee. And like I said, we're staying in a half-million dollar beach home on the Chesapeake Bay. My sister is housesitting for one of her co-workers for the week. I wonder if Maryland has a squatter's law.....

Here's my first observation about the States though: American's don't seem to give a shit about maintaining their monuments. I never realized how filthy the reflecting pool at the base of the Washington Monument is! And it was like everywhere we went, all we would see was uncut grass and bush everywhere. Oh well, I guess that's what happens when you build your capital on a swamp. Silly Amurricans.

Anyways, so that's what's new for now. Tomorrow, we should be having lunch with one of my sisters co-workers at the 'best crabcake place in Maryland.' Mmmm, crab. Then after that, we're going to head to Six Flags for the rest of the day. So I need to get some sleep!

I'll be back at the end of the week. Take it easy, I know I will.

-N. TRE

We Don't Need no Education!

Well, just a quick update since people are probably wondering what's been going on since the last post.

I ended up writing four of my five exmas and getting the last one pushed back. Woo hoo for fecal coliform! Unfortunately, the make-up exam for Bioinformatics is now on Friday so looks like I'll studying a bit more yet. I was kind of hoping I wouldn't have to write the exam till next term, but I thought about it and I don't think I want this stupid course hanging over my head for the next little while. Especially when it's not even that difficult to begin with. So my plan is to just take these next few days as a stay of execution, as Mike is calling it, and basically study as much as I feel inclined to (read: not that much). The bright side is that the exam is from 10am to 1pm, so that still leaves plenty of time to study for it, write it, and get drunk after it. Sweet!

Wish me luck.

Peace.
